THE SUN NEVER SAYS

THE SUN NEVER SAYS

The Sun never says to the Earth,
“Have you read your power meter lately?
You owe me a lot of money. Pay up!”
No… our brother just keeps giving,
of himself as freely as our sister water
falls from the sky;
as freely as our sweet friends the birds
sail winds.
Because of this free heartedness,
the whole sky is lit up with gorgeous radiance.
Because of this exuberant generosity,
we live!

I WISH I COULD FLY TO YOU

When you are sad, or gripped with fear,
anxious about your life;
anxious about the world;
I wish I could fly on the winds to you
with a mirror in each hand
and give you a glimpse
of the secret beauty of your true face,
of the holy One gazing out
through your eyes.

“EVERYONE SHALL BE BAPTISED
IN THE FIRES OF GEHENNA”

The Earth only lives
because of the constant
kiss of the Sun.
If the Sun should say,
“Because of your race, or color,
or creedal belief I will not shine on you,”
what would become of us?
How strange that some people
can actually believe like this,
that the limitless Love and wisdom
which is the Source of all
shows such favoritism, and could turn
his face against the innocent children
of Iran, or Indonesia, or China
or India because they were so unfortunate
to be born as they are.
I don’t think such people think
deeply enough to touch
the hidden river of the infinite,
nor observe the teachings
of all that exists.
I don’t think they have gone
down into the hell of their most primal fear
and sat in silence in that pure flame
until fear burnt up.
